

Durraine Hardy, 77, of East Hartford, passed away on January 1, 2013 at home. She was born on August 3, 1936, in Hartford, CT., a daughter of the late Charles H. and Deenie (Coarts) Hardy. Living most of her life in Hartford, she attended Hartford public schools, she moved to East Hartford in 2006. She was a member of the Full Gospel Interdenominational Church in Manchester where she taught Vacation Bible School for many years, she was a volunteer for many organizations. She loved her family and church family. Durraine enjoyed crafts and puzzle books, and spent most of her time knitting. She will be most remembered for how she loved helping others, knitting for missions, taking care of everybody’s kids, and just being there for whenever someone called and said they needed something, giving everything she could. Family meant everything to her. ‘
Durraine is survived by her daughter, Harriett Hardy, of East Hartford, close and special friend Samara Christian, of East Hartford, brothers Harry E. Hardy of Fayetteville, NC, Norman Hardy and his wife Beatrice of Springfield, MA., sisters Mellanee Bennett of Hartford, Ivy L. Hardy of Springfield, MA. Durraine also leaves behind to cherish her memory 2 grandchildren Charles S. Hardy and Nateisha-Lashay (Penny) Howard, 5 great-grandchildren; Vernon, Cynthia, John, Germaine, Jonathan, many special nieces and nephews, Phyllis, who helped take care of her, cousin Edward Coarts, friends Sam, Margie, Sonia, Kadijah, and special friend Pastor Kalinsky. She is predeceased by her brothers; Alfred, Clarance and Raymond, her sister Clara and her nephew Chucky.
Friends and family are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m. at the Full Gospel Interdenominational Church, 745 Main Street, Manchester, CT., 06040. A Memorial Service will follow immediately from 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. at the church, with a repast to follow afterwards in the church hall. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
