

Edward T. Doyle Jr., 77, of Manchester and formerly of East Hartford, passed away on Christmas Eve at Manchester Manor after a long illness. Born April 3, 1937 in Hartford, son of Edward T and Olive (Burnham) Doyle, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Jane (Flibbert) Doyle. He is survived by their son David and his wife Caryn (Southwick) Doyle and their sons Joshua and Ryan, all of Vernon.
Surviving is his wife of 24 years, Elizabeth (Andrews) Doyle and her children, Tom and Mary Cullen and their 5 children in CA., Jim Cullen of West Hartford , Kathie and Bill Sisson and their 4 children of Avon, and Don and Deanna Cullen and their 2 children of Watertown.
He is also survived by his two sisters Kathleen and her husband Michael Foley of Tolland, and Elizabeth and her husband Francis Zizzamia of East Hartford, a special brother-in-law Lawrence and his wife Lynn Flibbert in Hampton, NH and lifetime friend, Tommy Johnson.
Upon graduation from East Hartford High School in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army and served part of his enlistment in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1994 after 30 years of service between the East Hartford Parks and Recreations Department and as a firefighter with the East Hartford Fire Department.
Ed will long be remembered as a consummate woodworker and refinisher, an ardent fisherman and hunter and avid dog lover. A longtime parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Manchester, he was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith.
Calling hours were at the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. 06108 on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 from 4-7:00 PM. Funeral services were at the funeral home at 10AM Tuesday, Dec. 30, with a prayer service at 11AM. Burial to followed in St. Mary Cemetery, 930 Burnside Ave East Hartford. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a date to be announced at the Church of Saint Helena, West Hartford.
