

Eldridge Levens Derrick 90 of Vernon and formerly of East Hartford and widower of Isabelle Derrick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (January 2, 2011) at Vernon Manor. He was born Jan. 16, 1921 in Hartford son of the late Eldridge B. and Margaret (Levens) Derrick. Eldridge served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He has been a resident of Vernon for over 25 years and had worked for G. Fox in Hartford for over 40 years. He was an avid reader, loved listening to music, feeding the birds, fishing and mostly supporting his UConn Women’s Basketball.
He is survived by his four children and their spouses Beatrice and Gary Wilson of Springfield, MO, Lesley Chase of Windsor, Kenneth and Deborah Derrick of Marlborough and Margaret and A. William Reggio III of The Villages, FL: ten grandchildren Kathy, Mary, Christine, Jennifer, Sarah, Paul, Tracy, Andre, Elizabeth and Danica: five great grandchildren Jacob, Connor, Jessica, Russell and Julian: a sister in law Beatrice LaPorte of South Windsor and brother in law Albert Leavitt of Madison: cousins Brenda D’Alessandro and Father Robert Levens: along with numerous friends and neighbors.
Along with both his parents and wife he was predeceased by his daughter Karen Kelly and her husband Paul and a son in law Paul Chase.
Funeral Services will be Monday (Feb. 7th) at 11a.m. in the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, followed by burial in Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Sunday (Feb. 6th) from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
