

Eleanor Roney Guinan, 100 years old, lovingly known to all as Mimi, passed away in the early morning hours of August 11, 2015. Born in Newton, MA to the late James and Mary Roney, Mimi was the beloved wife of the late P. Joseph Guinan. She was predeceased by her son Michael J. Guinan and her step father John J. Smith.
Mimi lived in Coventry, CT for over fifty years before moving to Cape Cod. She retired from the Mansfield State Training School where she was the administrative assistant to the assistant superintendent of the school. She was a member of the Connecticut State Employees Association, Chapter 408 and as a charter member where she held the position of being its first secretary. Mimi enjoyed many pleasant years with the Coventry Senior Citizens Group. She was a flag bearer with the Nathan Hale Fife and Drum Corp. Mimi loved crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She made and donated over 100 little preemie baby caps to the Cape Cod Hospital’s Maternity Ward. Mimi was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UConn Women’s Basketball team.
Mimi leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter and her “favorite” son in-law, Pat and Sherwood Rose; her daughter in-law, Debra Guinan; her grandchildren, Michael Rose and his wife Linda, Jill Card and her husband Scott, Stacey Guinan and her husband Joshuah and Joseph Guinan. Her great-grandchildren, Zachary Card, Olivia Rose, Ariella Kalkstein, Delaney Card, Jack Rose, Hannah Guinan and Aaron Kalkstein and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the angels from the Hartford Health Care at Home Hospice, with their guidance we were able to keep our little Mimi at home.
Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
