Elizabeth C. Foran

Elizabeth (Considine) Foran, 86, formerly of East Hartford, beloved wife for 57 years of James F. Foran, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Betty was born in Torrington the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Tinska) Considine and was a longtime resident of the East Hartford community. Betty was a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital for years and later retired from the East Hartford Board of Education as a school nurse in 1984. She was a proud member of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed knitting and UCONN Women’s Basketball. Along with her husband she is survived by her two sons; Terrence Foran and his wife Peggy of South Glastonbury and Francis “ Ned” Foran and his wife Susan of Coventry. She also leaves the apple of her eye, her grandson Kieran Foran of South Glastonbury and her dear friend, Kemy Meaney of Farmington. The family would like to thank Irma Garcia of Glastonbury V.N.A. for her devoted and compassionate care for Mom.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the Callahan, Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave. East Hartford on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. for the procession to St. Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave. East Hartford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. The interment service will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford. Mrs. Foran’s family will receive callers at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Glastonbury Visiting Nurses Association, 969 Hebron Ave. Glastonbury, CT 06033.
