Mrs. Ellen Arlene Hogan Heinz

Ellen Arlene (Hogan) Heinz, born in Peabody, MA on Oct. 6, 1934 to the late Daniel Francis Hogan and Gertrude (Humphrey) Hogan, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2011. She was the lovely wife of Curtiss Heinz for the past 58 years. Raised in Bloomfield and East Hartford, she has resided in Glastonbury for the past 43 years.

When her children were younger Ellie was actively involved in the local and state PTA’s and Girl Scouts. Prior to her retirement she worked at American Savings Bank, Wethersfield. She was a fan of the UCONN Huskies and Boston Red Sox but most of all loved spending time with her family.

Besides her husband Curt, she leaves behind four children, Lauren Cheney and husband John, of Glastonbury, Robert Heinz and wife Clare, of Leland, NC, Anne (Mahoney) Niedzwiecki and husband Daniel, Leslie Longshore and companion Angelo Colon both of Glastonbury, her six grandchildren, Eric Hunt and wife Sandra, Melanie Longshore, both of Glastonbury, Craig Mahoney and wife Adrienne of Fort Worth, TX, Stefanie Hunt of New York City, Kelly Mahoney of East Hartford, Geoffrey Mahoney of Fort Worth, TX, and her four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Longshore, Ilana and Preston Hunt all of Glastonbury, and Emma Mahoney of Fort Worth, TX. She also leaves her brother Daniel Hogan and wife Peggy of Timberville, VA, her brother-in-law Paul Heinz and wife Betty of Wallingford and sister-in-law Nancy Sullivan and husband James of Higganum, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Gregory Mark Heinz, her brother Eugene Hogan, 2 half- sisters and 7 half-brothers and her brother-in-law Philip Hewitt. She will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, on Friday (Nov. 18th) from 4-6:30 pm. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday (Nov. 19th) at 10 am in The Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, 949 Main St., (corner of Main & High St.) So. Glastonbury, CT 06073. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VNA Health Care, 969 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, CT 06033.
