

Emil John Adams, age 93, of Glastonbury, CT died peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017 in the early morning hours at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness with heart disease with his loving family by his side.
Emil John (fondly known as EJ) was born on August 11, 1923 in Northampton, MA, the son of John Adams, Sr. and Kristina (Duga) Adams who previously resided in Myjava, Slovakia before immigrating to the US.
EJ grew up on the family farm and went on to graduate from the US Naval Academy and was a veteran of WWII having served in China, Germany and also had three cruises to the Mediterranean and two to the Far East. He retired after 25 years of service, moved to Newington, CT and accepted a position at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Corporation serving as a consultant in jet engine design. After several years he became a branch officer at American Savings Bank in Glastonbury, CT where he resided since 1976.
A true patriot with a strong heart, an infectious smile and an amazingly strong will, he enjoyed telling stories and he truly believed in our country and its principles and lived them throughout his long life.
He will be dearly missed by his daughters Cheri Colby of Lantana, FL, Kris Adams of Holliston, MA, Donna Urban of Rocky Hill, CT and his son Michael Adams of Cromwell, CT and their significant others as well as beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and special nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his first wife Patricia Ray and their two children Scott and Susan Adams, his second wife of over 50 years, Alicia Una (Guptill) Adams and daughter Linda Marie Adams.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 9:30-11am, with a Celebration of Life service to follow immediately at 11am, all to take place at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tnpk., Glastonbury CT 06033. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
