Epifania Santiago-Gomez

Epifania "Tita" Santiago-Gomez, 83, of East Hartford, died Sunday September 26 at a local nursing home. She was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Jesus Santiago and Juana Gomez. Tita was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and a life-long homemaker for her family. Her husband Juan Lopez Maldonado predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter Maria E. Lopez and her husband Willie of Glastonbury, her sons Juan Lopez Jr. and Anibal Lopez of Hartford and Eduardo Lopez of Maine, her two sisters Agripina and Ignacia Santiago and her brother Marcelo Gomez all of Puerto Rico, seventeen grandchildren, among them Alexandra Lopez who assisted in providing care for her. Numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Another son Angel Luis Lopez predeceased her. Funeral services will be Thursday September 30, 2010 at 9:00AM from the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial 10AM in St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5-8PM and Thursday morning from 8:30-9;30AM.
