Ernestus S. Adams, “Ernie”, age 83, beloved husband and best friend of Catherine (Rogers) Adams died on June 17, 2012. Ernie grew up in Towaco, New Jersey, the son of the late Ernestus S. and Anna (Long) Adams. He left home at age 17 to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He later took advantage of the GI Bill to attend and graduate from the University of Connecticut. He and his wife, Cay, were happily married for 58 years. He retired after 30 years from Veeder-Root. His greatest love in life was his wife and his children and grandchildren. He leaves his daughters Catherine Colletti and her husband Vinnie of Manchester, Constance Bordieri of So. Windsor, Laura Bengtson and her husband Robert of Glastonbury, Patricia Adams of East Hartford, and his son David Adams and his partner Kimberly Canning of No. Granby. He was predeceased by his daughter, Elaine, and his son-in-law Anthony Bordieri. He leaves his grandchildren: Nicholas DelGiudice and his wife Yolanda of East Hartford, Thomas DelGiudice of Manchester, Mary Easton and her husband Michael of Manchester, Kristina Bordieri of Springfield, MA, Andrew and Corey Bordieri of So. Windsor, Catherine, Sarah and Emily Elaine Bengtson of Glastonbury, step-grandsons Christopher Chapman of Norfolk , VA, and Harrison Canning of No. Granby. He leaves his great-grandchildren: Kasha, Devon, Adrianna and Anthony DelGiudice; Autumn, Anthony and AnnaBella Bordieri; Lincoln DelGiudice; Abigail and Kaitlin Easton; and Izabella Chapman. One great-great grandson Kobe DelGiudice. He also leaves his faithful companion, his dog Fritz.
He also leaves his brothers: Alexander of Denville, NJ, John of Carmel, CA, David of Parsippany, NJ, Edward of Towaco, NJ and his sister, Ann Mann of Allstead, PA.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, June 20th from 4-8 p.m., at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Funeral Services to be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 21st, at 10:30 a.m., followed with Military Honors. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
