

George E. Gagnon Jr., 92, of East Hartford, passed away on Dec 19, 2013, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. George was born on August 5, 1921 in Hartford, a son of the late George and Ann (Loomis) Gagnon. He graduated from Farmington High in 1938. He moved to East Hartford in 1955 and remained a resident for 58 years. George was employed by Plunkett & Webster, retiring after many years of service. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. George was a longtime communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.
He was a loving father, and will be remembered for his strength and devotion to his family.
George will be dearly missed by his son Peter Gagnon and wife Susan of Hopkinton, NH, and his daughter Marie Procaccini and husband Frank of Pittsburgh, PA, sister Joan Sadowski and husband Walter of Windsor Locks, 4 grandchildren: Isabel & Nina Gagnon, Drew & Jessica Procaccini, 2 great grandchildren: Greyson & Brady Procaccini.
In addition to his wife Mary (Cirone), and his parents, George is predeceased by his brother Joseph Gagnon.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, Dec 23 at 9:00am at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 1 Community St., East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec 22, 2013 from 3-6pm at the funeral home.
