Gertrude F. Fournier Casey

Gertrude Fournier Casey, 89, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Casey, passed away on March 3, 2014 at Riverside Healthcare Center after a long illness, surrounded by her family. She was born May 10, 1924, in St. Calixte, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late Emile M. and Josephine Savoie Fournier.

Gertrude lived in East Hartford her whole life; she was employed by Edward Supermarket, retiring in 1987. She was a parishioner of St. Rose Catholic Church. Gertrude was a loving mother, devoted to her family.

Gertrude is survived by her son, John T. Casey and his wife Robin of East Hartford, her daughter Maureen Ericson and her husband Douglas of Newington, brothers Albert Fournier of East Hartford, Emile Fournier and his wife Janice of Coventry, Richard Fournier and his wife Jeannie of Tolland, sisters Evelyn Kingsbury of Westfield, MA., Phillisse Gifford of Manchester, Lorraine Giansanti and her husband James of Newington, 4 grandchildren; Cassandra and Kodey Eldridge of East Hartford and Kihan and Maia Ericson of Newington, many nieces and nephews of the Fournier and Casey families.

Calling Hours will be Thursday, March 6, from 5-8pm at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Funeral Services will begin Friday, March 7, 9am at the funeral home, followed at 10:00am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford.
