Gregory R. Rasmussen

On September 2nd 2024 Gregory Richard Rasmussen, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Gregory was born to Lillian (Landeen) and Richard Rasmussen on April 15,1938. He grew up in Connor Maine with his family and graduated from Caribou High School in Caribou ME. Greg was an avid sports fan, he played left field on his high school baseball team. After High school he served in the Navy in Radio Communications. He married Louella LaPlante and shortly after their marriage they moved to Connecticut where he spent much of his career in Architectural Precast. Greg enjoyed playing in both an adult softball and hockey league. He was a huge St Louis Cardinals fan as well as UCONN basketball, both men’s and women’s teams. In 1991 Gregory and his wife moved to Florida where he spent most of his retirement years in Ocala. He enjoyed the activities of golf, shuffleboard and shooting pool with his friends. Gregory is survived by his wife Louella (LaPlante) Rasmussen, sister Cynthia (Rasmussen) Damboise. brother-in-law Reginald Greenier, son Richard Gregory Rasmussen and his wife Amy (Croxford) Rasmussen, daughter Debra Rasmussen, grandson Kyle Rasmussen and his wife Sarah (Thibaudeau) Rasmussen, granddaughter Olivia (Rasmussen) McCarthy and her husband Daniel McCarthy, two great grandchildren Oliver Henry McCarthy and Hannah Ann Rasmussen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Greg was predeceased by his parents Richard and Lillian Rasmussen, and sisters and brother-in-laws Lillian and August Johnson, Edith and Ralph Ostlund, Virginia and Oscar Erickson, June Greenier and Vernon Damboise.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Timber Ridge Nursing and Rehab in Ocala FL and Bickford Healthcare and Rehab in Windsor Locks CT.

A memorial service will be held on September 28, 2024 at Church of the Bible, 160 W. Main St, Plainville CT 06062. Interment will be held at a future date in New Sweden ME.
