Helen Elizabeth York

Helen was born on October 30, 1933 to Alma B. Messer and Forest Day.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Robert York. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Jeanne Aukstolis of South Windsor, Leonard Aukstolis of South Windsor, Deborah Salas of East Hartford, and Stephen Aukstolis of Ellington, her sister Marilyn Graham of Stonington, and her brother Ernest Messer of Old Saybrook. Helen was also a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren. Helen was also an aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Westbrook and East Baldwin, Maine, Helen later lived in East Hartford, Connecticut. Her life was marked by her deep love for family and the many memories she created with those closest to her. An avid animal lover, Helen rescued and adopted many cats and dogs during her lifetime.

In accordance with Helen’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Helen’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
