Irene E. Zaikarite

She was a resident of East Hartford for over 60 years. She was a devoted mother and loving wife to her late husband Philip A. Zaikarite. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Family was important to Irene, regularly bringing family together for Sunday dinner. She loved gardening, often canning her own vegetables. She worked at G.Fox as a telephone operator for many years. Irene was very active in her later years, spending time with her longtime partner Dick Patten she enjoying their many trips and her favorite, lobster dinners.

Irene will be dearly missed by her two sons, Philip P. Zaikarite and his wife Marianne and Peter Zaikarite all of East Hartford; Dick Patten and the love they shared for over 20 years; her daughter in-law Lisa Zaikarite of Linconville, ME; her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Paul P. Zaikarite Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM, on Monday, January 21, 2013, at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford CT. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013, from 4 to 7PM, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford.
