Joseph Roger Pelletier died on Saturday May 12, 2018 while surrounded by his family. Roger was 87 years old.

Roger was born in Hartford, CT to his parents Arthur and Anna Pelletier. He attended school at Le Noviciat des Clercs de Saint-Viateur in Jolitte, Canada. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War conflict. Upon returning, he married Seraphine Vagge in 1957 at the St Lawrence O'Toole Roman Catholic Church in Hartford, CT. Roger and Sally were married for 61 years and resided the entire time in thier East Hartford home. Roger worked at Pratt & Whitney for 26 years as a tool designer and manufacturing engineer. Following retirement, he volunteered at the Bradley Air Museum rebuilding antique aircraft. Before retirement, he also served his town as an elected Town Selectman from 1971 to 2013. Both Roger and Sally were parishioners at the St. Isaac Jogues Church for 50 years of which they were Eucharistic Ministers for 35 years. They received the Saint Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation on April 17, 2016 for the years of service as Eucharistic Ministers. Roger is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Luke and Lori Pelletier of Monson, MA., his son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Nancy Pelletier of East Hampton, CT., his daughter and son-in-law Paula and Tom Stack of Clinton, CT., his six grandchildren; Grace Pelletier, Luke Pelletier Jr., Sophia Pelletier, Julia Pelletier, Sara Stack and Abigayle Stack, his brother Joe Pelletier and his wife Carol Pelletier and one sister-in-law Connie Pelletier. He is preceded in death by bothers, George and Richard Pelletier and sisters, Anita Cowles and Jeanette Middlebrook. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Smilow Cancer Center, Yale New Haven Hospital PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508-9979 Calling hours for Roger will be on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT. Services begin at 9am on Friday, May 18th at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 1 Community St., East Hartford. Sally, I've been missing seeing you and Roger at mass on Sundays and have been thinking about you both. I'm so sorry for your loss. Roger and his happy conversations will be missed by many. I hope you and your family can find peace and comfort in the many years and blessings you shared with Roger.
