Jacqueline (Lynn) MacGregor (Spender) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 13. She was born on August 29, 1929 to Ethel and Joseph Spender in Wycoff, New Jersey. Lynn graduated from Ramsey High School in 1947 and then worked for the US Post Office where she met the love of her life, John C. MacGregor. They married in June, 1948 and subsequently a year later gave birth to twin girls. She and John raised their four children in Wyckoff and River Vale, New Jersey until moving to Florida upon retirement in 1990. Following their wonderful 17 years of retirement in Leesburg, Florida, Lynn and John moved to Ellington to be closer to their family.
Lynn was a devoted wife, Mom, Nana and GG who took great joy in being with her family and friends. She was a warm and encouraging friend who enjoyed life and had an engaging spirit. She was always ready with a funny quip to lighten the mood and always wanted to be part of the party!
Lynn was predeceased by John in 2013 and leaves behind her earthly family of four children: Bonnie Leet and her husband David of Spofford, NH, Donna Lajterman and her longtime partner, Fred Beechler of Pompton Plains, NJ, John and his wife Maureen of Ellijay, GA and Sandy and her husband Scott of Ellington, CT; eleven grandchildren: Kelly, Karen, Mitchell, Katie, Julie, Josh, Samantha, Cade, Jenna, Karli and Jack; and 15 great grandchildren.
Since 2015, Lynn enjoyed life at the Residence at South Windsor Farms. The family would like to thank the many members of the Staff that cared for her and treated her like family. You could see the staff enjoyed her as she did them, and as one staff member would always say ‘Thank you for sharing your Mom with us!’ which always felt good to know she was loved by others as well.
Calling Hours for Lynn will be held Saturday September 17, 2022 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Home Service immediately following at 11:00 am at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home 318 Burnside Ave. East Hartford, CT. 06108. Committal will immediately follow at Center Cemetery 95 Maple St. Ellington, CT. 06029.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.NewkirkandWhitney.com for the MacGregor family.
