James E. Doughty

James E. Doughty, 87, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth S. Doughty passed away peacefully on October 9, 2014. James was born on April 20, 1927 in Hartford, CT to the late Francis and Mary (Pfau) Doughty. He was a lifelong resident of East Hartford, and having had many jobs, his longest being with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. James leaves his children, sons James of Waterbury and Kurt and his wife Lori of Vernon and daughter Mary (Doughty) Dwyer of Simsbury; and grandchildren Lindsay and Steven, Kurt and his wife Kate, Scott and Erik, Michael, Aidan and Luka Dwyer; and great grandchildren Kyleigh, Damien and Ayla; and special friend Sophie Wojtkowiak and family. A Memorial Service is to be held on Saturday Nov. 8, at 11am at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT 06108, with burial to follow with Military Honors in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford, CT. A Calling Hour will be one hour prior from 10-11am at the funeral home.
