

James "Jim" A. Mann, 67, the beloved husband of Liane Mann, passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2012 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Jim was a resident of East Hartford for 25 years. Jim was born on June 18, 1945 in New London, CT to the late Arthur and Eleanor (Wallace) Mann. He attended Old Saybrook public schools. He was the proud owner of Lee's Cleaning Service. Jim was a loving father, devoted to his family, and could be found frequently in the kitchen cooking. He was a foster father to many children. Jim enjoyed fishing, Parcheesi, and spent most of his time helping those less fortunate. He will be remembered for his kind and unselfish demeanor, his love of practical jokes played a big part in his everyday life. Jim spent many years fostering unfortunate children and always saw the good in everyone. Jim's dedicated unselfishness far exceeded anyone's expectations. Jim will surely be missed by everyone that came across his path. Good speed to you Jim. In addition to his wife Liane of 35 years, he is survived by his son, James Mann Jr. of Florida, daughter Denise Rydell and her husband Timothy of Bethel, NY., daughter Hilary Mann of East Hartford, six grandchildren Anthony, Michael and Ryan Rydell of Bethel, NY., Hailee, Mallina and Victoria Mann of East Hartford, cousin William Wallace of Cape Cod, and many other cousins, dear friends, neighbors, and his 2 Chihuahuas Dusty and Cuddles. Jim is predeceased in death by his parents.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a period of visitation on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 2-6 p.m. at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108. Funeral services will begin Monday, December 10th, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by the Celebration of Life service at 10am. Burial will follow in Indian River Cemetery, Clinton.
