

Jean E. (Hodge) Galloway, 90, of South Glastonbury, beloved wife of the late Raymond “Roger” Galloway, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born in1921 in Hartford to the late Harold and Mary (O’Brien) Hodge.
Jean was a lifelong resident of South Glastonbury. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished time spent with her family. In addition to raising her children, she maintained her career as a bookkeeper. A light hearted woman, she had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. She was a life member of the St. Augustine Altar Guild. Talented in arts & crafts, she donated her works to raise money for the church. She was an avid animal lover, enjoyed baking and trying new recipes and most recently playing and winning BINGO with her friends. Jean will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Ray Galloway and his wife Barbara of Haddam; her daughter Mary Ellen Norman and her husband Russ of Chester, NH; her dear niece Marjy Graham and her husband Norman; several extended family members and her lifelong best friends Gloria and Ada. Aside from her husband Roger, Jean was predeceased by her sisters Shirley Winship and Carol Tucker.
Jean’s family wishes to extend a special THANK YOU to Jean’s personal aide, Agartha, for her exceptional care and companionship, and to the staff of Right at Home for their continual support. Our great appreciation also goes to the entire staff of the Atria Greenridge Place in Rocky Hill for their respectful attention to all of Jean’s needs--and for “engaging her in life”.
Funeral were held on Thursday, July 26th, at 9AM at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpk., Glastonbury CT 06033 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10AM, at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Rocky Hill.
