

Jean Elizabeth (Morgan) Kendrick, age 86, cherished wife of 62 years to Charles H Kendrick, passed away peacefully at the Hearth of Glastonbury on October 11, 2023. Jean was born on December 29, 1936 to William Bramwell Morgan and Bertha in Port-de-Grave Newfoundland. The family moved to Unadilla NY in 1946 and Jean became a US citizen in 1951. Jean graduated from Husson College in Bangor, Maine and then moved to Hartford, CT where she began working for Travelers Insurance Company. She met Charles at Christ Church Cathedral, where they married, and then made their home in East Hartford, CT. They enjoyed hosting many gatherings for family and friends, traveling, and spending time with their children.
Jean was an active member of All Saint’s Episcopal Church in East Hartford, where she served as the Altar Guild Directress, Fair Chairperson and Sunday School Teacher. She also was a member of St Margaret’s Guild, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Vestry and the Pastoral Care Team. Jean was involved in the various PTOs of her children’s schools, serving as room mother many times. After her own children were grown, Jean became a nanny to several families and always held those children very close to her heart.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda Bacon and her husband Eoghan of Franklin, MA; granddaughter Jessica Bossi and her husband, Benjamin of Stoughton, MA; grandson Matthew Bacon of Cambridge, MA, as well as many friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Steven W Kendrick in 2009.
Jean’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of The Hearth at Glastonbury and Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to her during her final months.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday October 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church Street, Hartford, CT, parking is available at the MAT garage. Burial will be private at a later date.
