

John Keegan McCooe, 96, husband of the late Stephanie (Nawrocka) died peacefully on December 14, 2012. He was born on February 15, 1916. Son of John and Jane Keegan McCooe. John was a veteran of World War II proudly serving in the Army/Air Force, in Japan and the Philippines.
John retired as a foreperson after 33 years where he worked in the Engine and Overhaul shop in Southington for Pratt & Whitney. John was also active in democratic politics in East Hartford serving as District 2 Chairman for 7 years. He was affectionately called "John McCoooo from District 2"
He is survived by two children: Barbara Pagano and her spouse Bob of Plainville and his son Jack P. McCooe and his spouse Kathy of Rocky Hill. He leaves behind seven grandchildren; Jon Kostenko, Kim Pederson, Todd Pagano, Alicia Pagano, P. John McCooe, Spenser McCooe and Sean McCooe; five great granchildren: Kaidan, Tristan, Kaeley, Ryley and Stephaney. He is also survived by his brother, Charles and sister in law Alice of Manchester and his sister Jeanette Bakanas of Bolton. He is also predeceased by; three brothers, Joseph McCooe, C. Thomas McCooe and James McCooe and two sisters, Kay Witke and Bernadette Madama.
He is also survived by dear friend and companion, Mary A. Tully of South Windsor.
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
At John's request, funeral services and burial was private. The Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, East Hartford was entrusted with arrangements. John will be resting in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford, CT.
