Joseph Peter Christensen

Joe is survived by five siblings and their families; Ruth (Walter) Borst of Coventry, Barbara (Gary) Martin of East Hartford, Peter Christensen of Middletown, Thelma (Mario) Deryniowski of Florida and Christopher Christensen of East Hartford and well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Christensen.

Joe worked as a tow truck driver at Dave’s Service Station in East Hartford, a job he truly loved. He thought highly of his boss Dave and was grateful for his many years there. Those who knew Joe both personally and professionally knew Joe as dependable and always ready to help.

Joe will be remembered for his deep generosity and devotion to family. He spent many years caring for his brother, Christopher Christensen, who has Down syndrome, showing him patience, love, and support. The two shared a love of wrestling and enjoyed watching it together, a bond that brought them both much joy.

Joe’s life was defined by quiet acts of sacrifice and love — on the road and at home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Joe's life will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 1-3pm with a service beginning at 3pm. at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108
