

Joseph W.C. Picard, 91 widower of Helen F. (Stanowski) Picard of South Windsor, passed away peacefully with family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Joseph Picard was born November 19,1931 in St. Ann, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Paul and Delphine (Theriault) Picard.
Joseph was an Airborne Ranger in the United States Army, fought in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He married his wife in 1956. He was a resident of South Windsor for 58 years. He was a devoted husband and father and cherished time spent with family. He was a well known and respected barber for 70+ years. He was a devoted member of Truth Baptist Church, South Windsor. He had a passion for soul winning and sharing the gospel.
Joseph Picard is survived by his three daughters, Arline Couture (Jean-Guy), Theresa Meyer (Andreas), and Nancy Byk (Andrew), step-son, Daniel Stanowski, four grandchildren, Amy Luzzi (Michael Sr.), Michael Picard, Raeann Byk, and Andrew Byk, and three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Emily, and Michael Jr.. He leaves a brother, Nelson Picard (Muriel), and a sister Marie-Ange Lavoie (Normand). He is predeceased by his wife, Helen F. (Stanowski) Picard of 63 years also his two sons, Paul Picard and David Picard (Lisa), his brothers, Aurel Picard (Anne), Edmond Picard (Irene), Joseph L. Picard (Nelida); and sisters Christine Rossingnol (Fernand), and Albertine Levesque (Real). He will be remembered by his family and all his friends forever.
Calling for Joseph will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. Funeral Service will occur Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Truth Baptist, 60 Burnham St, South Windsor, CT 06074, the family request you go directly to Church the morning of the Funeral. Committal service will occur Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 12:15 PM at Wapping Cemetery 50 Oakland Rd. South Windsor, CT 06074, with full Military Honors.
