Joseph David Skrabut

Joseph "David" Skrabut 69, passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2026. He was born December 1, 1956 in Hartford to the late Joseph Henry and Lorraine (Dufour) Skrabut. David as many knew him, is survived by his son David Alexander Skrabut, sister Pamela (and Mark) Erickson, sister Paula Seeley, and brother Robert Skrabut among many nieces, nephews, and caring friends.

He attended East Catholic High School, joined the United States Marine Corp at 19 and then retired as an elevator mechanic after many years with Local 91. David was known for his adventurous spirit and deep desire to learn. Throughout his years you could find him diving at the Portland quarries, rafting the Delaware river, or picking up a telescope in hopes of seeing something in the stars. If you had the pleasure to sit with him then you know he had the ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, for any amount of time.

David had a big heart and would go out of his way to help others. His passion, tenacity, and love will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held privately with the family, after which there will be a David style celebration at Wickham Park. Please bring your favorite story to share.
