

Kenneth E. Oman, 42, of East Hartford was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 7, 2012. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, son of Barbara Hobbs Oman and the late Elton L. Oman, he lived most of his life in East Hartford. Kenny was a graduate of the East Hartford High School, class of 1988 and attended Manchester Community College with an interest in culinary arts. He recently passed his state EMT exam. Kenny had a great sense of humor and was a kind, sweet and gregarious and loyal man with many interests. Kenny loved the Lord and was his dedicated servant. He was an avid daily reader of the Bible and often highlighted many passages in it. He eagerly participated in church outreach programs and taught Baptist bible study classes. Kenny’s interest and study of magic tricks led to his being inducted into the Society of America Magicians. His sports interest was mainly martial arts. He was trained in the Israeli Art of Haganah. With years of study he also became a black belt in Aikido. Kenny’s love of German Shepard dogs promoted his career as a dog trainer and handler for his own dog training business. His favorite things to do were taking his dogs out for walks, rides in his truck to the park and swimming. Kenny was predeceased by his father Elton L. Oman and his grandparents Isabel and Kenneth Hobbs and Rubin and Juanita Oman. In addition to his mother Barbara, he is survived by his brothers David Oman and his wife Michelle of Andover and Gregory Oman of Bristol, two nieces Mikayla and Halie Oman, his uncle and aunts, Buddy Oman and his wife Frances, Glenda Hobbs and her husband Michael Sragow and Karen Hobbs Munafo and her husband Richard and several cousins.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Sept. 19, 2012 at 11AM at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in East Hartford. Visiting hours are Tuesday at the funeral home from 4-8PM and on Wednesday from 10-11AM.
