Lloyd F. Scott

December 14, 1928October 4, 2018

Lloyd F. Scott, 89, beloved husband to Olga G. Scott for 64 years, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018, in Manchester. Lloyd was born December 14, 1928 in Port Limon, Costa Rica and was son to the late Albert Barrett and Mary Scott. In addition to his wife Olga he is survived by and will be dearly missed by his three daughters: Marcia Scott, Sauda Omari and husband Tayo, and Karen O. Lewis all of Windsor, a sister Alma Scott of PA, a brother Rudolfo Scott and wife Barbara of Panama, sister in-law Claudette Gibson of Bloomfield, his granddaughters Karayahn Lewis and Lauren Horn of Windsor, great grandson Jahkoye Lewis of Windsor, godson Dwight Edwards of Boise, ID and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd graduated from Woolmer’s High School in Jamaica. After he and Olga married, they immigrated to New York in 1959 from Kingston Jamaica hoping to make a better life for their young family. After a brief residence there the family settled in Hartford, CT. He was employed at General Electric for 27 years as a machinist and inspector until he retired. He was a parishioner of St. Monica’s Episcopal Church of Hartford for many years. Later, after moving to Bloomfield he joined St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and was active in their vestry. Lloyd was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed track, soccer, cricket, basketball and football. However, his passion was soccer and cricket. As an adult he played competitively on soccer and cricket teams for the West Indian Social Club and the Sportsman Athletic Club of Hartford, CT traveling throughout New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Canada in various leagues. Better known as “Scotty” by close friends he could always be counted on for his sense of humor and sharing his political views. Whatever problem or concern you brought to him he would have some advice for you to resolve the issue. Although you may not have agreed with his response, you came away with a new perspective on how to resolve the challenge. Lloyd will surely be missed by his loving family and friend for his take charge, no nonsense attitude and willingness to provide help, support and guidance to those who knew him.

A time of viewing with visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 590 Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield from 10-11AM, followed by his Going Home Celebration at 11:00AM.
