

Loan Thi NGUYEN, 64 of Wethersfield, died Friday, April 25, 2014 peacefully at home with her family at her side. She was born November 15, 1949 in Vinhlong, Vietnam, the daughter of Trang Nguyen and En Ngo. In 1986, Loan immigrated with her 2 children to Ft. Worth, Texas in the last wave of what became known as ‘The Boat People’. Speaking no English, she and her children set out to start a new life in America, eventually settling in East Hartford, CT. Loan worked very hard to provide for her family as it grew to include a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Loan’s favorite pastime in recent years was traveling with and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She also loved cooking, watching ‘Paris by Night’, and was well-known for her expertise in making many beautiful traditional Vietnamese dresses. Loan is survived by her daughter Kieutien Nguyen and her husband Andy of Wethersfield, her son Tien Vo and his wife Chi of Plainville; her grandchildren Tammy, Vivian, Katelynn, and Andrew; both parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, all in Vietnam. Loan’s family would like to thank Masonicare Partners Homecare and Hospice, and family and friends for their support and care. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until 2:30pm Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
