

Lois Gwendolyn Taft, 95, of Glastonbury, formerly of East Hartford and Lakeside CA, widow of Henry George Taft, passed away on June 30, 2012 with family by her side. She was born in Bridgeport CT to the late George and Gwendolyn (Williams) Field.
Lois was employed by the law firm Bailey and Wechsler retiring in 1977. She was a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church and had been active in United Methodist Women at Hockanum in East Hartford and Santee United Methodist in CA. She served as president of AARP in local chapters in CT & CA and volunteered with Breakthrough to the Aging. She enjoyed traveling and spent most of her time reading books, doing crosswords and playing cards. She will be most remembered for her warm, kind and generous spirit.
She is survived by her children, David of Rocky Hill, Linda Fagioli and husband Nick of Nutley NJ, Shirley Omicioli and husband Steve of Tolland, “daughter” Betty Richter and husband Bill of Glastonbury; her grandchildren, Jonathan Fagioli and wife Jackie, Nicholas Fagioli, Jeffrey Fagioli and wife Vickie, Andrew Fagioli and Alex Fagioli and Kimberly Omicioli; her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Vincent and Louis Fagioli and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Mary Taft and brothers, Dudley and Merton Field.
Calling hours will be held TODAY, Monday, July 2, from 4 to 7PM, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. Funeral services will begin at 10AM on Tuesday, July 3, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 16 Church St., East Hartford. Friends are asked to gather at the church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
