

Loretta A. (Gagner) Soucie, 88, beloved widow of Joseph L. Soucie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 9, 2013. Loretta was born July 29, 1924 to the late Emile and Leona (Dumond) Gagner in Eagle Lake, ME., and resided in East Hartford for 65 years and Glastonbury for the last 7 years.
Loretta and her husband Joseph opened their home to countless family members wanting to start a new life in the Hartford area. Loretta’s life revolved around family and family gatherings. She loved cooking, cleaning and caring for others. Loretta was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, East Hartford for many years.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Loretta is predeceased by her son James Soucie, siblings Louis Gagner, Jeanette Thibideau, Beatrice Sime, Neil Gagner and Camille Gagner.
She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her son Allen Soucie and his wife Margaret, daughter-in-law Suzanne Hayes, grandchildren Daniel Soucie and his wife Shelly, Kimberly Soucie, April Anderson, Christina Mormino, Matthew Soucie and his wife Delphine, and Craig Soucie and his wife Sandra, 7 great grandchildren, sisters Lucille Breton and Lila Dube, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at Woodlake at Tolland for the loving care given in her final weeks. Also, special thanks to the staff and her friends at Mountain Laurel in Glastonbury, making her stay there a home she loved.

Friends and family are invited to attend a period of visitation on Thursday, April 11th from 5-8PM at Benjamin J. Callahan/ Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Friday, April 12th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford.
