

Marie Antoinette (Luzopone) Michaud, 87, of East Hartford, passed away Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 at the Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford Springs. She was the beloved wife of Bertrand Michaud. She was born in Hartford, on March 14th, 1923, daughter of the late Nicola and Rose (Carone) Luzopone.
Marie moved to East Hartford in 1948 and lived on Bedford Avenue until March of last year. She started working at the Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company, in Hartford, as a payroll clerk when WWII broke out. She married the love of her life, Bertrand, in 1950 and left work to start her family. Marie was devoted to her family, cherishing time spent with them. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt who brought joy, comfort and happiness to those around her. Caring for her parents in their later years, she had a warm and open heart. She always saw the good in the world; and in others, an eternal optimist. People were drawn to Marie, with her sincere kindness and friendship. Spending time with her was always enjoyable and pleasant. Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Evergreen Health Care Center for their kindness, care and above all, the love they shared with Marie.
Besides her husband, Bert, Marie will be dearly missed by her daughter, Jean Michaud and her companion James Francoeur of East Hartford; her brother in law, Olivin Michaud of Avon; her nieces, Amelia (Donnelli) Byington of Colchester, Sally (Donnelli) Yobst and her husband John of East Hartford; her great nieces and nephew, Lisa, Sherri and John; two great great nieces, Sarah and Leah; her cousins Michael and Jack Luzopone of NY,NY, and many friends and “adopted children” that call her Mamma. She is predeceased by her sister Mary Frances (Luzopone) Donelli and Mary’s husband, John.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Marie’s love for animals, to any no-kill animal shelter of donor’s choice.
