Marietta Julia (Devine) Good, 98, of East Hartford, more recently of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully at Glastonbury Healthcare Center on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late John Paul Good. Marietta was born on July 6, 1919, in East Norwalk, a daughter of the late Lewis and Julia (Claudell) Devine. Marietta was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a longtime parishioner of All Saints’ and St. John’s Episcopal Churches. Marietta will be dearly missed by her daughter Tina Good and her wife Karin Grann of East Haddam, her son Ed Good and his wife Donna of East Hartford, her 5 grandchildren; Heather, Tyler, Jeff, Susan and Carol, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, special nieces Sandy Gober, Frieda LaBier and many friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marietta is predeceased by her son Ed Kane, daughter Carol Spiewak, brothers, Clifford, Lewis and Julious Devine and sister Julia Loughrey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 444 Hills St., East Hartford CT 06118, or to the CT Humane Society,701 Russell Rd. Newington CT 06111 Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 5-7pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave. East Hartford CT 06108. A Funeral Service will be on Friday, February 16, at 11am at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 444 Hills St. East Hartford, everyone is to meet directly at church. I knew Marietta when I was her visiting nurse and I truly loved her. We had a special bond and it was my privilege to help her stay independent for as long as possible. My sympathy to her family. She was a great lady.
