

Marilyn Esther Duncan, 94, of West Hartford, widow of Richard Duncan, passed away May 21, 2017. She was born March 7, 1923 in Hartford to the late Kenneth & Esther Freeburg Marks. She graduated from Wethersfield High School and worked at Travelers Insurance and Hartford Hospital before the birth of her children. Marilyn and Richard were married in Wethersfield January 13, 1945 and made their home in West Hartford. Marilyn was a devoted stay at home mother to her girls, Girl Scout and Brownie leader, and taught Sunday school at the First Church of Christ-Wethersfield- where she was a member of over 50 years.
Her happiest years were spent taking care of her precious grandsons Kristopher and Greg Keppler. Marilyn and Dick enjoyed many summer vacations later in life in North Carolina and Maine and spent countless hours driving to the CT River, beach or just getting lost.
Marilyn was a loving and nurturing lady who was always willing to care for those who were in need. It brought her happiness to share what she could with people. She always had a kind and giving soul that will be missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard of 72 years in February of this year, and son-in-law Paul Keppler in 2007.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, daughters Cynthia Duncan of West Hartford & Marsha Keppler of Newington, grandsons Kristopher Keppler and his wife Jill of Clinton, Gregory Keppler of Newington, great grandsons Chase & Griffinn Keppler of Clinton & many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wants to thank the entire staff of Jefferson House, especially the Morgan Unit for the loving care she has received over the last few years.

A Memorial Service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main St., Wethersfield CT, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2pm. There are no calling hours. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family. Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tnpk., Glastonbury, is assisting with arrangements.
