Mary Charles Howe

Friday, August 23, 2024. The daughter of Charles Owen and Mary Hibbs, Charlie was born

in Vine Grove, KY on March 20, 1940. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in music from Western Kentucky University. Charlie was widely known for her beautiful singing voice. She served as a music education teacher in Kentucky, Ohio and Connecticut public schools. Charlie retired as a

longtime loyal employee of the McDonald’s restaurant in Glastonbury, CT.

Charlie was a devoted member of Good Intent Chapter 17, Order of Eastern Star; and

Glastonbury Grange #26. She was a friend to all animals and an early advocate for

protecting the environment. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Howe, of East Hartford; sister Susan Hibbs of Lamoine, ME; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Hibbs of Versailles, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret; and brothers Harry, John and

Bill. The family deeply appreciates the loving support of Charlie and Bob’s neighbors in East

Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to any animal shelter.

Burial will be held on Friday October 18th 10AM at Silver Lane Cemetery on Silver Lane East Hartford
