Muriel A. Christensen

Muriel A. Christensen, 89, longtime resident of East Hartford passed away peacefully on November 4, 2011 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Torrington, CT on December 24, 1921 a daughter of the late Daniel A. and Elizabeth (Brennan) Vuille. Muriel was the widow of Arleigh M. Christensen who passed in 1983. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was known for her baking talents and for being a Jeopardy aficionado.

She is survived by her six children, their spouses and families: John and Darlene Krukar of Goshen, Cora and Brian Neville of Lutz, FL, Paula and Allen Rossignol of Hebron, Ethel and Jeffery Green of Gaston, OR, Lori and Joel Perkins of Andover, Thomas and Cara Christensen of Coventry. To cherish her memory she also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jonathan, Geoffrey and Lael Krukar, Jessica Wilson, Jared Rossignol, Sarah Harmening, Amy Bock, Arleigh and Catrina Christensen, her great grandchildren: Dylan and Jayson Gherlone, Jade and Elias Krukar, Eric Carr, Victor and Rowan Wilson. Along with both her parents and husband she was predeceased by her two brothers Paul and Daniel Vuille and her sister Jeanne Mendenhall.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday November 9th 9:30-11:30am to the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. A memorial service celebrating Muriel’s life will take place at 11:30am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Muriel’s memory to the Connecticut State Firefighters Association Memorial Fund, 34 Perimeter Road., Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
