

Nicholas Hober Jr., 71, of Indiantown, Florida and formerly of East Hartford, beloved husband for 50 years to Jacquelyn (Hajostek) Hober, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at his son Nicholas’s home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hober was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had been a longtime resident of the East Hartford community before moving to Florida nineteen years ago. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and was a member of The Volunteer Hose Co. #3 of East Hartford. He had been a proud veteran of the U. S. Marines. Prior to his retirement in 1992 he had been a fireman and later the Superintendent of fire alarms for the town of East Hartford for 27 years. Along with his wife he is survived by his two sons; Nicholas D. Hober and his wife Gina of East Hartford and Thomas S. Hober and his wife Lauri of Newington and by his two daughters; Michelene A. Hober of Stafford Springs and Lisa B. Hober of East Haddam. He also leaves his two brothers; Barry Hober of Florida and George Gillis and his wife Cindi of Colorado and his sister, Lorraine Pendergast and her husband James of New York. Mr. Hober is also survived by his three grandchildren; Isabelle, Zachary and Aaron .Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral home service on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at the Callahan, Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave. East Hartford. Mr. Hober’s family will receive callers at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The private committal service will be held at a later date.
