Richard Norman Gillette

Richard Norman Gillette, 82, longtime resident of East Hartford, passed away on August 11, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Richard was the beloved husband of Irma (Wirth) for over 59 years. He was born in Hartford, CT on July 8, 1934, a son of the late Gordon C. and Sophie (Panson) Gillette.

Richard attended & graduated from Bulkely High School. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He will be remembered as a caring, family-oriented man who was a loving and devoted husband father and grandfather.

Richard enjoyed antiquing, spending summers in Rhode Island on the shore, but mostly time spent with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Irma, son Scott Gillette and his wife Cindi of East Hartford, grandsons Matthew and Garrett, sister Marion Picard and her husband Walter of MA., sisters-in-law Ella and Patricia Wirth, brother-in-law Maurice Brassard, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by brothers-in-law Irwin and Paul Wirth and sister-in-law Mildred Brassard.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, August 14th 2016 from 4-7pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT 06108. Services will begin on Monday August 15th at 10:30am, with a Celebration of Life service to follow immediately at 11am all at the funeral home.
