Robert (Bob) F. Benton, Sr. 89, of East Hartford, CT passed away July 17, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Bob was born March 23, 1929 in Hartford, CT to the late Charles and Mary (Moynihan) Benton. He was one of three boys, the late Charles E. Benton, Jr. and James H. Benton.
May 12, 1951 Bob married the love of his life Antoinette Cannone at St. Mary’s Church in East Hartford. He would do anything for her. They were often found laughing in the kitchen while cooking their children dinner. He was a doting husband and father. The loss of his wife in November 2011 brought him a great deal of heartache, but with a close family he had the love and support he needed. If given three words to sum up his life, it would be “family, family, family.” If you needed something fixed or help on a project Bob was there with a smile on his face ready to help.
Bob worked for Stanadyne Corp. in Windsor, CT for 36 years where he received many acknowledgements/recognitions during his tenure as a supervisor. Bob is also an Army veteran; He received an Army of Occupation Medal in Germany.
Bob enjoyed traveling, gardening, keeping the perfect pool and yard, barbeques with family, watching football, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed for his sense of humor. Even in his final days, he was still cracking witty jokes.
Bob is survived by his four children Robert F. Benton, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Enfield, CT, Thomas E. Benton and his wife Joy of Vero Beach, Florida, Gail B. Blanc of Granby, CT (Robert P. Blanc predeceased in June 2018) and James M. Benton and his wife Donna of Manchester, CT. His grandchildren, Laura (Blanc) Hanson and her husband Adam of Newport, RI, Shaun Benton of Florida, Ryan Benton of Manchester, CT, Dylan Benton of Manchester, CT, Christopher Benton of Enfield, CT and Timothy Benton of Enfield, CT. He will also be missed by his little dog Teddy. Bob’s family would like to thank Seabury Meadows in Bloomfield for their wonderful care.
