Robert William Scanlon

Robert W. Scanlon, 88, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Anne Cushman Scanlon, passed away on December 5, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was a loving, devoted man who was committed to his family. He was very active in his children’s lives serving as a coach for East Hartford Little League and football. He spent many happy hours with his golf buddies on and off the golf course. After graduating from Bulkeley High School, Bob was proud to serve in the Navy during WWII. He then went on to work for SNET, retiring after 35 years of service. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to Anne, his wife of 20 years, Bob is survived by his children, William and Nancy Scanlon, Karen Keramidas and her life partner Thomas Ali, Laurie Scanlon and her best friend Maureen Chagnon, Joseph Scanlon, Jeffrey and Sue Scanlon, Kathy McManus, Debbie Ogle, Susan and Timothy Belanger, William and Lisa Cushman and David and Katrina Cushman. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren and his 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Scanlon and his grandson, Braden Cushman.

Calling hours will be held from 9AM to 12PM, on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108 followed by a funeral service at 12PM, at the funeral home.
