

Ron was born on August 28, 1942 in New London, CT. He was the son of the late Anastasia McNichol and Claude Meadows. Ron was a 1961 graduate of New London High School and enlisted in the Army after graduation. Upon completion of his military service Ron was an auxiliary police officer in the City of New London. Ron worked at Electric Boat Company for 50 years as a shipyard worker and lastly an auditor in the Engineering Department. He retired in 2012 from Electric Boat and spent the majority of his time attending sporting events and helping others battling addictions. Ron was always there to help coach a baseball or softball team, even if his children or grandchildren were not playing. Ron started the Christopher Potvin Scholarship Fund which is still today providing scholarships for student athletes looking to attend college.
Ron is survived by his long time companion Shirley Bartley of Niantic whom he loved spending time with watching movies, listening to music and visiting the casino. His daughter Dawn (Meadows) Guidetti and her husband Stephen, and their daughter Isabella Rose Guidetti; his son Todd Meadows and grandchildren Mackenzie and Tyler; niece Kelly Meadows Schenking and nephews Michael Meadows, Christopher Ward and Gregory Ward. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Meadows of New London and Edward Buddy Meadows of Baltic. Ron was also predeceased by his pet friends; Scrappy, Max and Sarah.
Ron's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hartford Healthcare Hospice at Home and his caregiver Christine Clever for taking such good care of him in his last days.
There will be no calling hours and a celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
