Rose Antoinette Blanchard

Born in Stafford Springs, CT on March 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Campo) Hanley.

Rose was a graduate of Hartford Public High School. In 1945 she married Lester Blanchard at St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford, CT. and then later moved to Sterling to raise their family.

For most of her life, Rose worked as a secretary at Kaman Aerospace in Moosup, CT.

She was a devout Roman Catholic who found solace and comfort in her faith. She believed strongly in her family and was happiest when surrounded by them.

Rose is survived by her children; Suzanne Burlingame (Stephen) of North Chatham, MA; Paul Blanchard (Karen) of Norwich, CT; Peggy Brennan of East Dennis, MA and Diane DeWeese (Charles) of Monterey, CA. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Elizabeth Gunsalus (Matthew) of West Hartford, CT; Amanda Grainger (Marc) of Summit, NJ and Haley Rose Blanchard of Stamford, CT. She was Grandma Rose to her great-grandchildren, Grace & Jack Gunsalus and Ella and James Grainger.

She was predeceased by her husband Lester (2002); son-in-law Paul Brennan (2017) and two sisters and two brothers.

Her family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Liberty Commons and Broadreach Hospice for the compassionate care provided to their mother in the last years of her life.

Funeral services will be held at St. Edwards Church, 6 Benton St, Stafford Springs, CT at 1PM on Saturday November 4th with burial to follow at St. Edwards Cemetery.

There are no visiting hours.
