Rudell John Knowlen Sr.

Rudell “Rudy” John Knowlen Sr. 81, loving husband of Roseann (McSheffery) Knowlen of East Hartford passed away peacefully on Sunday April 10, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. Rudy was born May 24, 1929 in Pittsfield, MA son of the late Harry Rudell and Alta (Moore) Knowlen. He served his country in the United Sates Air Corp stationed in the Alaska’s Aleutian Islands during the Korean War. Rudy was an avid Red Sox fan, loved to fish and also a fan of the Lady Huskies Basketball.

Besides his wife Roseann he is survived by two sons Harry Knowlen and his wife Paula of Newington, Rudell Knowlen Jr. of East Hartford and a daughter Trudy Soucy and her husband Kenneth of Hilton head, SC: nine grandchildren Christopher, Mathew, Amy, Kelly, Michael, Jennifer, and Wendy Knowlen, David Soucy, Michelle Marzi and her husband Mike: three great grandchildren Jaina Neri, Jorden and Evan Marzi: one brother Royce Knowlen of Bloomfield and two sisters Shirley Guzman and her husband Sandy of North Groversdale and Anne Rogers of Worcester, MA. Along with both parents he was predeceased by a son Richard and a grandson Patrick.

Family and friends are invited on Friday April 15th at 9:30 am to the Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., for a period of visitation prior to the 11 am funeral home service with the Rev Robert Roy officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the family plots in Silver Lane Cemetery all in East Hartford.
