

Sam Brown, 69, a lifelong resident of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Hartford, a son of the late Glenn and Margaret (Mayer) Brown and was a graduate of Glastonbury High School. He was a mechanical technician in the elevator industry. Prior to his illness, he worked for the Town of Glastonbury. Sam was an avid football fan, enjoyed playing cards, trips to the casino, fine dining and cruising. He was predeceased by his son Gregory, wife Naomi, paternal father Joseph Darby and stepson Matthew DeBonee. Although unspoken, he loved his family and friends dearly. He leaves behind to mourn his passing: his wife Barbara; his daughters Denise Clayton and her husband Amar, Robin Spong and her husband Roy, Deborah Pollansky and her husband Bruce; his sons Bryan of Mesa, AZ and Sam and his wife Kim; stepchildren Jim DeBonee and Cindy McCue; seven sisters, one brother and 14 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Last but not least he leaves his very best friends Bob and Elaine Mount. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the St. Francis Cancer Center, his special nurse Marianne Whalen and Dr. Alessia Donadio.
Funeral services will be Friday December 9th at the Glastonbury United Methodist Church at 11AM, followed by interment service at the Neipsic Cemetery, Glastonbury. Calling hours will be held at Glastonbury Funeral Home 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury today (Thursday) from 4 to 7pm.
