Santina "Sonny" Vasquez

Santina “Sonny” Teresa (Giansiracusa) Vasquez, Age 84, of East Hartford, CT, widow of the late Santo Vasquez, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2015. Sonny was born on November 9, 1930 in Hartford, CT to the late Emanuele and Teresa (Bascetta) Giansiracusa. She graduated and attended Hartford Public High School. Sonny was a homemaker and was a parishioner of St. Isaac Jogues Church in East Hartford. She loved spending time with her family and playing cards, and she enjoyed watching her UCONN Women’s Huskies.

Besides her husband Santo, Sonny was also predeceased by her step-mother Francesca (Bascetta) Giansiracusa, her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Grace Giansiracusa, and her sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Guy Busca. Sonny will be dearly missed by the many nieces and nephews she leaves behind, as well as several dear friends and her special cousin Pauline Leone. The family would like to thank everyone who cared for her, especially Nancy Klingerman.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, June 15, from 8:30-9:30am at Benjamin J. Callahan/Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT 06108. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 10:00am at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 1 Community St., East Hartford. Burial to conclude services in Mt.
