Sophie (Rahemba) Gabron, 98, beloved widow of Mitchell M. Gabron, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2018. Sophie was born in New Windsor, New York, on December 22, 1919, daughter of John and Victoria Rahemba.
Sophie grew up in New Windsor, NY where she wed her loving and devoted husband whom she cherished and spoiled with her famous cooking. She enjoyed dancing, Polka music with Happy Louie & his band.
Sophie will be dearly missed by her son Mitchell V. Gabron and his wife Jean of East Hartford, daughter Gail G. Zoppa and her husband Ron, of Niantic, grandchildren; John, Jodi, Robin, Jill and Nickolas, great grandchildren Savannah, Patrick, Mallory, Kaila and Brendan, her sisters and brothers, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Sophie is predeceased by her grandson, Mitchell Anthony Gabron.
Friends and family are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, December 18th, from 5-7PM at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108. A brief time of visitation will be Wednesday, December 19th, from 10:30am-11AM with a funeral service to follow immediately at 11AM all at the funeral home. Burial will conclude services in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
