Stanley P. Lazeren, 66, of Glastonbury, beloved father of Heather Lazeren, passed away unexpectedly on Feb 4, 2014 at his home after a brief illness. He was born on Sept 11, 1947 in Hartford to the late Michael Lazeren and Janina (Gudewicz) Majkowski. Stanley graduated and attended East Hartford High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Stanley was retired from Wonderbread Baking Co., and was a resident of Glastonbury for over ten years. He was an active member of the American Legion and Veterans Association. He was a loving father devoted to his family, and often had many stories to share. He enjoyed playing golf, following the Yankess, UCONN basketball and spending time with his daughter, Heather. He will be most remembered for his outspokenness, humor and willingness to help both those he knew and strangers alike. In addition to his mother Janina Majkowski of Marquette, MI, he will be dearly missed by his daughter Heather Lazeren and her significant other Hu Sykes of Vernon, daughter Alexia (Lazeren) Barnaby and daughter Jessica Lazeren, both of Raleigh, NC, brothers Mitch Lazeren and his wife Sharon of Marquette, MI and Richard Lazeren and his wife Helen (Terry) of Atkinson, NH, along with his four-legged grandchildren, Jade and Paige. Stanley is predeceased by his life long friend, Helen Lazeren, and Edward Majkowski. Calling hours will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 from 4-7pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108. Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 9:30am, followed by a Funeral Liturgy in St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford at 10:30am. Burial with military honors will follow in CT State Veteran’s Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association. PO Box 417005

Stan was my favorite neighbor...friendly, witty, and of course outspoken. For fun we'd attempt to communicate in Polski (we each had a limited grasp of Polish) He recently mentioned looking forward to moving to Michigan. My condolences to his family.
