

Stanton Hugh Avitabile died peacefully at age 91. Graduated from Trinity College and Weill Cornell Medical College. Board-certified in Internal Medicine. Served, during the Viet Nam war, as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy. In private medical practice in Glastonbury before becoming Executive Vice President & Medical Director of Security-Connecticut Life Insurance Company. Co-founder of the National Marfan Foundation; other philanthropies included the Welles Turner Memorial Library and the Glastonbury Skate Park. Elected to the Glastonbury Board of Education. Survived by his second wife, Gloria Symington Avitabile, and his five children, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Right up to the end, Stan's wit and attention to detail allowed him to continue doing what he always loved most: spending time with and helping to shape the futures of the youngest members of his family.
