Virginia was born in the Dominican Republic on January 22, 1926, and was the only child of the late Thomas and Evelyn Morton. As a teenager, Virginia moved to St Kitts, West Indies, then to Curacao, Virgin Islands before immigrating to the USA in 1972. She lived in NY for many years and later settled in Connecticut in 1990.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Virginia loved to play the piano and was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large library of recipes from newspapers and other cookbooks. She also loved to watch food and cooking channels. Virginia was a sociable, fashionable and respectable individual who was loved by all. She was very supportive and encouraged family members to always try to excel and do their best, to aim high and always try to pursue their dreams. Virginia converted from Roman Catholicism in the late 1970’s to Seventh-day Adventism and was an active member until her health started to falter. Virginia had an unwavering faith in God, she loved her church, loved the Lord, bible verses were quoted often for encouragement, for any situations, was often teased by many to be poetic, Virginia has left an everlasting imprint on the minds and hearts of her family and friends.
