

Wallace “Wally” Inkpen, 66, of Manchester, beloved husband of Sandra G. Inkpen, passed away surrounded by loving family on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Bringham & Women’s Hospital after a courageous struggle with Leukemia. He was born in Hartford to the late Wallace and Theresa (Fedak) Inkpen.
Wally was a generous, kind and quiet man who deeply cared for his friends and family through his gourmet meals and loyal and caring nature. He loved being out in his boat early in the morning on Red Cedar Lake, doing a little bass fishing, catch & release. He had a strong love for nature, birds, wildlife and all animals. He generously donated to various animal and conservation groups.
Wally operated his own Real Estate Appraisal business achieving the designations of: Senior Residential Assessor (SRA), Certified CT Municipal Assessor (CCMA) and was also a long time member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI). He later became Deputy Assessor for New Haven and Middletown and was most currently Deputy Assessor for the Town of East Hartford. Wally enjoyed bicycling with the Mountain Laurel and AMC groups as well as weekend biking through local areas. He loved visiting vineyards and sampling local and fine wines. His famous French Onion Soup will be dearly missed on Thanksgiving Day.
In addition to his love of 24 years Sandra, Wally will be dearly missed by his sister Georgina Lucas; his nephew Andrew Lucas and his wife Tanah; his niece Sarah Lucas-Coburn and her husband Aaron; his stepson Adam Newton; his step grandchildren Ethan and Evan Newton; his mother in-law Maureen Gilbert; his sister in-law Linda Camarco and her husband Gene; his brother in-law Peter Gilbert and his wife Ann; his nephew Ryan Gilbert; his sister in-law Diane Stebbins and her husband Jamie; his nephews Josh and Geoffrey Stebbins as well as many dear friends and associates. Wally was predeceased by his Father in-law Hercule Gilbert and his beloved cats, Fluffernutter, Thelma & Louise.

Friends and family are welcome to gather on Tuesday, August 27th, from 3 to 6pm, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home. 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT. A Funeral Service will be held at 5:30pm at the funeral home.
