

Born Vladimir Oborski on October 5th, 1947 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia to the late Anna & Stefan Oborski, his family immigrated to the United States in 1952 settling in Glastonbury CT. He was deeply passionate about his family and their history. After graduating Glastonbury High School he served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a cross country truck driver. “The road” was his true home and remained so in his heart right up until passing. He was talented at almost anything he set his mind to; from helping neighbors to finding unique solutions to complicated problems. He was an honorable man, full of faith and strong character which helped him endure a decade’s long illness.
He is survived by: his daughter, Coleen Nims and her husband Eric and their daughters Daphne and Zoey of Cromwell; his son, Brian Oborski and his daughter Amanda of Vernon; his brother Jerry Oborski and his wife Sandy of Stafford. In addition to his parents, Walter is predeceased by his brother John.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 21st, from 5 to 8PM, at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpk., Glastonbury, CT 06033.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 23rd, at 11AM, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Roman Catholic Church, 26 New London Tpk., Glastonbury, CT 06033. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 9:30AM at the funeral home before the Mass. Burial will be at 1PM at the Massachusetts State Veteran Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
