

William Spencer Donnelly died January 7, 2012 he was 88 years old. He was the son of Thomas H. Donnelly, former Fire Chief of West Hartford, and Mary E. Mullins Donnelly. He had lived in West Hartford, graduating from William H. Hall High School, until joining the army to serve in World War II where he was a platoon crew chief on flights to Europe. He was a proud veteran. He joined the Hartford Fire Department in 1949 serving for 38 years until his retirement in l987 often at Engine House 2 on North Main St. After his second wife Stella Baluk Donnelly had a limiting stroke, he cared for her at home until her death. He enjoyed many travels to Australia, Europe, and sails on Maine Windjammer cruises. He leaves his first wife, Helen S. Albert, "Betty" of Chestnut Hill, MA; and his daughter, Jacquelyn R. Donnelly of Newton, MA.
To honor him, there will be a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery in East Hartford at Noon, Friday, January 13th. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. Arrangements by Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, East Hartford.
